Whether it’s supporting local communities, donating time and skills, contributing to grassroots causes, or simply traveling more responsibly, this session connects you with others who believe travel can be a force for good. Share your experiences, swap project recommendations, and discover practical ways to make a difference wherever you roam. Network with fellow travelers in Bangkok who care as much about leaving a positive footprint as collecting passport stamps.
BIO
Justin Murphy grew up in Seattle, the kind of kid who was always looking for what was beyond the next horizon. Justin traveled a lot growing up, but it was a study abroad program that changed everything — while his classmates traveled to destinations close to campus, Justin was taking weekend trips to Iraq and Tunisia, and that’s when he knew. Extreme travel, raw storytelling, going where most people wouldn’t — that was his path.
By the time he graduated with a degree in Multimedia Journalism he’d already been to 30+ countries and had built an audience of over 150k across social media telling stories from the places most people never think to go. 70+ countries later he’s still out there — living full time on the road, telling stories and chasing the kind of experiences that excite him.
But for Justin, travel was never just content. He wanted to use storytelling to actually change something. So in 2024 he founded The Murph Foundation, an international NGO that brings travelers off the beaten path to work alongside local organizations on real community projects — clean water, sanitation, food, conservation, and even bomb removal missions. These are real projects, real communities, real impact — and the stories told the way they deserve to be told.
In their first year TMF completed projects across 7 countries, connecting travelers with communities in places most people will never see. Now in year two they have projects planned across the globe over the next 6 months and are looking to connect as many like minded travelers to their work as possible — going bigger, going deeper, and just getting started.
