What Age Were You Born, is an uplifting documentary showcasing the relationship between mother and son as they come to terms with Maura’s Parkinson’s diagnosis. Rather than accept defeat, together they decide to rise to the (Mount Fuji shaped) challenge.
After the screening, Johnny Ward will host a moderated Q&A with his mother, Maura Ward.
BIO
Maura Ward is a former social worker from Ireland who has spent much of her later life exploring the world. Now based in Thailand, and in her late seventies, she has travelled to more than 70 countries, with over 50 of those visited after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Rather than slowing down, Maura has continued to push her limits through adventure and endurance challenges. With her son Johnny, Maura has ‘competed’ in the Serengeti Marathon, cycled 100km across the Jordanian desert on a tandem bike, and climbed Mount Fuji at the age of 70. Along the way she has helped raise over $50,000 USD in the search of a cure for Parkinson’s Disease.
Maura has travelled to more than 50 countries with her son Johnny, but she is also an independent traveller in her own right, undertaking solo journeys to places such as Burkina Faso, China and Argentina, proving that adventure does not have an age limit.
