Beyond the Headlines: How Travel Changes What We Think We Know

What shapes the way we see the world, our experiences, or the stories we’ve been told?

Growing up in a country often reduced to headlines, Yooshita developed an early awareness of how powerful and misleading narratives can be.

After visiting over 140 countries, she began to notice a pattern: even experienced travelers carry simplified assumptions about places they haven’t yet experienced firsthand.

This talk explores how the world we think we know is often “edited” shaped by selective stories, media, and perception rather than complete reality.

Through personal experiences and reflections from the road, Yooshita invites the audience to rethink how they interpret the world, and to move beyond the single narratives they’ve been given.
